Welcome to The Republic. We celebrate the people, ideas and stories that capture the spirit of the Lone Star State.

I love Texas.

Not sorta like. Or kinda love. But from my bones to the soles of my boots love. And I’m not alone.

As a musician traveling around Texas with my wife, Abbi Walker, over the last couple of years, I’ve had a chance to share space with Texans from all walks of life. It has only deepened my love and connection to the spirit that shapes the Lone Star State.

Now, I don’t profess to be an expert on all things Texas. I’m far from an authority on our history. I don’t engage in the political posturing and rhetoric that often leads to screamin’ and schemin’ over drinkin’ and dancin’. You won’t find any specific partisan agenda here.

But I’m passionate about Texans. Hard working dreamers and makers, builders, artisans, craftsmen and craftswomen, and I’m drawn to know more about what they create and how our common bond as Texans shapes us.

Throughout the Great State, Texans are designing new products, developing innovative solutions to challenges, cultivating new and unique communities and taking risks to create the life they want to live.

To me, there’s nothing more Texan than that.

My hope is that The Republic will be a place where independence and new ideas are celebrated, risk is revered, and stories of brave, bold and inspiring Texans encourage others to the create the life they want to live.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to stay a while.
